Brand Identity
The purpose of this project was to rebrand the Fashion + Textile Museum by creating a bold, modern, and tactile visual identity. The Fashion + Textile Museum is the only museum in the UK dedicated exclusively to contemporary fashion and textile design, founded by designer Zandra Rhodes. This rebrand aims to shift the museum from a traditional cultural institution into a more contemporary and interactive space for young designers, fashion enthusiasts, creative professionals, and visitors interested in design and culture.
The new identity focuses on creativity, self-expression, and hands-on engagement. The brand personality is bold, modern, expressive, tactile, energetic, and playful, encouraging young creatives to experiment and see fashion as a tool for individuality and visual exploration. The visual system is built around contrast, texture, layering, and repeated dot elements inspired by stitching and textile surfaces. Black-and-white mannequin photography highlights fabric, form, and craftsmanship, while vibrant orange-red and sky blue create a strong contemporary contrast across print, digital, and spatial applications.
The logo combines the initials FTM into a geometric architectural mark. Its linear structure suggests construction, pattern-making, and spatial form, connecting the museum’s fashion and textile heritage with a more modern and dynamic identity. Across applications such as brochures, posters, tickets, signage, social media, merchandise, and exhibition graphics, the system presents the museum as a creative playground where fashion, culture, and craftsmanship come together.
